Removed iPhone feature makes a comeback!

The lock screen volume control feature, which iPhone users have long missed and wondered why it was removed, is making a comeback with the iOS 18.2 update. This feature, which Apple removed with iOS 16 in 2022 and was only visible when using AirPlay, is returning due to high demand from users.

Volume Control Returns for iPhone!

The Cupertino-based tech giant is reintroducing the ‘Always Show Volume Control’ option in the Settings app. Users can access this new feature via ‘Settings > Accessibility > Sound & Visual’ menu. When enabled, volume control will remain visible on the lock screen while using headphones or the iPhone’s internal speaker.

For now, this (technically old) feature is being tested on a limited number of devices. It’s currently available on Apple Intelligence-supported iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models, as well as the new iPhone 16 series. In the developer beta phase for now, Apple plans to expand the beta testing group next month, with a full rollout expected by year’s end.

This change addresses a long-standing complaint on social media platforms, especially on Reddit, where users frequently expressed their dissatisfaction with the removal of lock screen volume control since iOS 16.
